Greetings my friend …
I have always promoted the belief that your personal development, the mastery of certain skills, and your ability to realize goals within a certain time-frame, is DIRECTLY tied to you finding others, who have goals that are similar to yours, then sharing your discoveries and your progress with that circle of people.
That is the “essence” of mentoring.
So, MentorWithMahdi, is really my way of inviting you to “join-with-me” in the art of studying/practicing your craft (whatever it may be), and teaching what you discover during that process … with others.
Solid Action Plan – Helps You To Mentor
We live in the Information Age …
In every industry or niche, there is SO MUCH material available about the various “paths” that a person can take to achieve proficiency and skill in their craft,
that often times people get distracted by the “options” …
and end up losing precious time and money.
In an earlier article, I outlined the 5 foundational principles that everyone needs to embrace, so as to increase the probability for achieving your goals.
Let’s review those five principles here …
(The truth is, you should refer to these principles each week, to monitor your progress)
– growth in your personal knowledgebase, through reading
– growth in your skillsets that will lead to mastery (learning useful skills)
– growth in your discipline daily activity (practice of useful skills provides practical experience)
– growth in your ability to develop the right questions, and do research that provides answers
– growth in your ability to form mastermind alliances
Being a continual student-practitioner of these foundational principles, is essential in mentoring others.
Give A Leg-Up ….Instead Of A HandOut
If you live in the USA, you are extremely blessed to have sooooo many resources available, to assist you in realizing the dreams that you have for yourself and your family.
Even if you are in challenging circumstances right now, I guarantee you that your challenges are NOT COMPARABLE to what other people in the world are faced with every day … with NO ACCESS to the resources that those in the United States enjoy.
Now that we have gone through that “reality checkpoint”, I will continue by saying that your access to people, materials, and systems are the key ingredients that will help you to make the personal evolution to greatness.
Remember …
– access every resource that you can
– build as many quality relationships that you can
– put into practice EVERYTHING that you learn
– keep you daily prayers and meditations
so that you signal to the DIVINE, and the universe around you that you are laser focused on your objective.
YOU WILL begin to “attract” to you those positive experiences (and people) to bring the results that you seek.
As you learn, part of your proof-of-worthiness-for-DIVINE-favor will be, how often you reach out to others on the path,
and lend your assistance and insights to them. (Study – Practice – Teach)
There is character building in the act of struggling against challenge.
As a Mentor, do not take that experience away from people.
We tend to learn more from our “temporary setbacks” than we do from our easy successes.
So as a mentor, you are the noble teacher who points in the direction … instead of showing the way.
Leverage TIME … with Technology Tools
When it comes to technology tools, one of the BEST tools that you can utilize for your own reference,
as well as a marker for those who come behind you …is the power of VIDEO.
When you learn a new skillset … make a video of it, then post it on YOUR BLOGSITE.
By doing this, you are giving GLOBAL EXPOSURE (via initernet) to what you have learned,
you are building CREDIBILITY as one who knows and shares (rasies your know/like/trust factor)
you are shortening the learning curve of your associates.
you are teaching who to LEVERAGE YOUR TIME … through the use of tools.
Rather than you spoon-feeding and hand-holding ….
you are instead, guiding your people to an information source, so that they are EMPOWERED,
and can gain from your experience, even decades and centuries from now.
Being a MENTOR, is the perfect path towards realization of your goals.
Why? ….
It is the path of the seeker, who is continually sharpening his/her skills and experiences to gain greater proficiency in not only being among the BEST in your craft, but by also gaining EFFICIENCY in how you assist larger and larger numbers of people who have proven themselves to be worthy of your time….
by their efforts.
The “mentor” is both student .. and teacher … striving for perfection.
